What text evaluation does mean

A novel, a short story, a poetry text, a didactic text, all of them share only one element, writing, while communicating type, content, form and style are completely different.

Knowing how to evaluate a writing, means knowing how to appreciate the particular stylistic choices adopted for each text, the synthetic and lexical variations which add personality and concept strength and the peculiar nature of every element.

Both form and content continue to be fundamental basis of a good text structure, but it is the harmonic and coherent combination of the two elements, to determinate the success of a work.

Knowing how to evaluate a writing means, also, understanding how it would be relevant, present and immediate. Many stories are written but many of them are immediately forgotten. Only some will interest and will continue to be alive in a reader's mind.

Evaluating a text means understanding what kind of a message and of a story it may narrate, and up to which point it may be of interest at the present time and it may communicate the message.

It is very important in our times that the work is welcomed by the public and, “market evaluation” is mentioned when we refer to the possible interest the work would rouse to the potential buyers.

Fundamentally we don't think that what said above is a possible good evaluation. Reader's taste may change, but what often rouses interest and admiration is the simplest and unexpected story. What is really important is having a good story to write and knowing how to write it perfectly.

Writing a story is not difficult but correctly writing a story is an art a few have.

Finding one's own style, one's own vein and one's own strength is the richness of a writer who will be universally appreciated.

An evaluating report has therefore the aim of letting emerge qualities and defects of a text in formal and content levels, underlining the potentialities, reporting what should be improved and what instead should be eliminated. According to this, in a writing we tend to privilege not only interest and impact it might have related to the ephemeral taste, but its value related to beauty, which is a unique and universal concept.
