Who an editor is

The professional figure of editor isn't yet very well known in Italy, although in the last years it has been more frequently required by film personalities who decide to write a book.

The editor has the job of following the genesis of a book in its style and content levels, helping authors putting in order facts and events inside the story so that they result coherent, and suggesting changes of style and content to better the writings.

It is obvious that this delicate work has to be done with discretion, helping to improve what is already written, not betraying neither meanings nor the style of the work.

The role of an editor is to be near the writer in a respectful way to evaluate her/his work in the positive parts and to eliminate ingenuous mistakes, naturally made by the author for the love of writing and the impatience of narrating.

It means to be present, not invading the creative space of a writer and, only when it is needed, helping her/him in following the outlines of a story, not loosing structural arrangements so that the work may be carried on to its good end.

Main endowments of an editor is to respect the peculiarity of each work, discovering and evaluating the particular and unique beauty, and, it is to know how to discern qualities helping the author to discover her/his personal style and her/his vein.

As a flower blooms, the work too has to be helped unfolding in order to highlight particular nuances and harmony of its composition.
